filling up... can not let go

i dont know if this is a typical problem for jeeps or if i can fix it or not. but when im pumping gas i can not just let it hang like everyother car iv owned. in order for me to keep it pumping i have to hold the tip down and the body as high as i can otherwise the handle clicks and stops pumping?

I do the same thing for my YJ. Not sure if there is a fix for it though. Pretty common from what I have heard.

I turn the handle sideways with the hose pointing out to the driver's side, put my gas cap between the license plate and the nozzle and let it rip... it fills fine until it gets close to full then I have to take over manually.

i take the gas cap and wedge it between the license plate and the body of the jeep to sort of open it up... kind of helps. Or you could just do what my uncle did with his yj and move the tank over to the side like the jk's but it's a lot of work and a lot of $$$....

Must be a common problem. Mine did that, then I put a TJ filler on the side. Works fine now.

I used to use the sping up license plate to hold the fuel handle... Didn't work all of the time, but usually I could make it happen...

Might have to look into that when pay day rolls around...

Small bungee cord works fine and was a cheap fix. I hooked mine to the spring on the license plate holder. It hides when you let it fold back up.

Well, in a way, I'm glad to hear others have this problem too. Mine is a little worse then position - I can only use the first click on the pump or it kicks off. But I have a fuel cell so that causes some of the problems too.
