Ford 300????

Has anybody put one of these in aYJ before I had one in my 86 F150 and it was a good motor felt a lot like the 242 but with a lot more grunt. I have a complete motor with abt 15k on it laying around and my I6 in the jeep has abt 220k on the clock. Just wondering I know the 300 is perfect for low rpm torque.

I was just thinking about that also I'm going to have to look up the the specs on the size of both motors. It would be a really great motor in a jeep.

Yeah scratch that its wieghs as much as a V8 and is longer so I'm gonna find a 302 or a SBC and get parts together so maybe by the end of next year I'll be able to put it in.

Sweet whats a good price for a motor and I want to retain my Ax-15 as I just replaced it 10k ago. From what I've gathered the ax15 is suited for mild v8 power and can easily fit most ford motors with minimal modification. Is this true??

would I still want to go with 4.56 gears or would 4.10s be better with the added power of the v8?

Depends on the tire size....I ran a small block with 4.56's and 38's...she was a screamer

I just got a really BIG smile when I read this. Thats my goal when I'm all said and done is for my jeep to have 35-37's and not just kill me on gas. But right now with my factory gears and 33's I'm getting 10.

Yuk that blows lol.....as soon as I get a few projects out of the warm part of my shop I plan on putting together a YJ to keep for myself. I plan on doing a step by step writeup of it on here complete with prices just to backup what I say about building a badass rig for under 10K from the frame up.
