Getting Inspected tomorrow... Need a horn!

So, I was checking everything to make sure my jeep will pass, and last thing I check... the horn. Doesn't have one. I am getting ready to buy one at advanced, and need to know where the wires from the horn are under the hood. A Pic would help a lot. Its a 91 4 cylinder. Please help me... This pisses me off. Get done fixing evetything to make her legal... and I forget the horn.

Thanks

On my 88 the horn wire is on the drivers side by the airfilter box and it sticks out of the plastic bundle that goes towards the front of the Jeep. So you have the button on the steering wheel but no horn right? To test the wire hook up a test light, ground one side of the light and hook the other to the horn lead and press the horn, does the light come on? If yes then all you need is a cheap horn and you set. If not then you have the wrong wire for the horn.

Just watch him, when he goes to press the horn button you need to SCREAM "HONK HONK"

Do me and yourself a favor, before you start pulling wires, check your fuses....

Is there anything that says the horn on the steering wheel has to be in working order or will any working horn do? If the latter is the case...like with old Model Ts and such, technically speaking you could pass with a hand-operated horn.

Assume its just not working, all YJs have horns, not all of them work.

I didnt know it, but when I bought mine, there was no horn. Took me some tracking but I found the wire and I used some old horns I had left over from a Camaro. Although I didnt realize they were bad, what a pathetic noise coming from them; but hey, its a horn and it works.

Yes, Camarozz, you are right. I had no horn, as I stated in the original post. Apparently a lot of people assumed the other way, which looking back, would be something common, people saying they don't have a horn when it is not working, but i actually meant what i said.

Anyway, quick solution, spent 36 bucks, and got a push button new horn (since I didn't have one), and the relay... Viola, horn that works.

Thanks for the advice, btw, my fiancee thought it'd be funny yelling honk honk, so I didn't tell her I wired the horn, she was looking at my Super Swampers I had mounted, and There I go. Paybacks a bitch. lol.

So... I failed inspection for 2 reasons. First- Steering box is bad.

Second- Fuse blew for turn signals after I got there, but before they checked.

Working on figuring out the best way (cheapest) to either repair or replace. Might even end up selling the jeep, since money is low and won't have a good job til december.

Steering box? really?

I call Shenanigans, those dont go bad too often....

As for the fuse, replace it, if it pops again, check ALL your bulbs, if a filament is loose it will blow your fuse if it contacts ground, otherwise, plug in a self resting circuit breaker.

A friends bro dud that in his truck. Once his bro ended up stuck on some train tracks right in front of him due to traffic, and he let it rip!

I thought about doing that. Train horn, but this was last minute cheap fix. lol. Got the turn signals fixed. The steering box, when the wheel is turned, clicks around. I figure it is a 91, and was poorly taken care of (in some ways, but not to rusty, considering.) So, what would be your opinion? Take it elsewear?
