going to look at a 94

a guy in our town stopped me at the gas station and informed me he had a yj for sale for 1,500 bucks , he said that it had a new rc 4 inch lift ,4.o engine with the 5 speed stick, also has the 8.8 with electic locker , hard full doors ,and running 16inch motto inch rims with nitto tires, he said the body is better than mine.only a small dent on driver side..

i know his dad and there family is very well off and have great vehicles..

he said the bad is battery is dead, and it has a rough idle every now and then with the rpms going up and down untill it warms up sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt, and it will will need tires soon

i know to check the frame and general jeep stuff, what else can you think of i need to look for,, like i said i havent seen it yet and it will be a few days before i can check it out,,

mine has the stock rear and the 2.5 5 speed and half doors

Definitely worth looking at. I would probably pick it up and combine the best parts off yours and the other into one Jeep and sell the other for a profit myself... 4.0 is a step up from the 2.5 and you cant beat the 8.8 while staying stock width. The electric lockers suck from what I know but its better than nothing... As long as the frame isnt dust I think you could come out of this deal smelling like a rose

went and checked it out today, way better than i thought it would be for 1,500
only thing bad about that i could find,, it he had had long travel shocks on the front and had removed the hoops and there were no shocks on the front so the test drive on road was a little swervywhen you got on and off the gas , but he said he would put shocks back on it , there was a tear in the top behind driver side., it had had the frame rust at the power steering box but he had plated and welded it up.and the rest of the frame was solid,,, it also had a 3 inch body lift and what he said was a 4 inch rc lift maybe someone on here can tell if it is a 4inch or 2 im not sure to be honest-i have heard on here that you dont want a 3inch body lift with the 4inch suspension lift..

here are a couple pics of it,,,there is no bondo that i could find with my magnet,,
and the body had a somewhat shoddy paint job over the rock rubbed rocker panel on the passenger side,, but if i get it it will be repainted to olive drab anyway,,,and my use of jeeps are not for show anyway i use them as a farm/short street run jeep,,
he also had a set of 36inch swampers he will throw in on the deal 2 of which were cut for paddle style with about half tread on them..,,

what do you all think for 1,500 bucks

Looks like a nice start to a great Jeep. You'd make your money back for sure selling off parts if yours is better. Doors, top, wheels and tires are worth it alone.

Like white on rice, like flies on poo, like my wife on black Friday sales,....I'd be all over that. What a fun long term project, especially if you had garage space for it. And like was stated above, you would make your money back parting it out. Maybe you could make cool jeep furniture out of the tub, seats etc. My sons would love a jeep bed made out of that tub, ha!
