Have Some Problems

Well I got screwed and its my own fault ugh I had my parents go look at and pick up the jeep for me the other day since it was up by cleveland and I had no time to go anywhere till today. Well I just got back to columbus with it, the body is as expected and thats fine new panels are cheap. Also needs a new windshield which again I knew. Its all the little things my parents failed to notice, first there are no dash lights, the exterior lights come on if you play with the switch wires, the moron who had it befored decided since he couldnt zip up the side window hed sew it all the way around instead of fixing the zipper, he had hit something on the pass side as the front bumper is pushed back about an inch and the front leaf spring shackel is bent pretty good but the biggest thing that pisses me off is I can not get the dam thing to shift into 4x4 or maybe its in 4x4 and I cant get it to shift into 2wd I'm not sure yet but the shifter wont budge.

Any suggestions? I'm going to replace the windshield and get a new light switch and most likely some autometer gauges since the water temp doesnt work either, but what advise about the transfer case if its not used for a long time does the shifter seize?

BTW its a 93 yj with the 4.0 5 speed, 88,000 miles on it

transfer case

I had problems with mine and it was the linkage binding. Had to use both hands to pull the lever into 4 hi, wouldn't go into 4 low. Could not get it to slide over and drop down into low. Pulled the linkage assembly out and cleaned it up, and greased it. Had to work it back and forth a couple times and it works easy now.

get some good cleaners and spray the hell out of the linkage.. then remove it check it and put it back. If you think its stuck in wheel, turn the wheels hard in one direction on pavement and if it binds up your in 4wd. If no bind you should be in 2wd.. Unless of course the vacum pump line is not hooked up. Passenger side axle looks like a box on axle tube.

FWIW, I have never bought a used jeep that didn't need something, or several things. Enjoy.
