Help Me Configure My Lift Kit

1. OME 2.5 heavy duty with nitro shocks

2. OME greasable shackles

3. Tom Woods CV driveshaft

4. Advanced Adaptors Driveshaft Angle Redux SYE Kit

5. Russell Stainless Steel Brakeline extender kit

6. U Bolts 4x

7. OME Steering Stabilizer

8. 31x10.5 tires 5x

What else am I missing that would complete my lift kit? I know I could also just drop my transfer case, but is it better to just go with the cv driveshaft and SYE kit?

Thanks
Addison

The kit should come with u bolts unless OME doesn't supply them? Seems odd that they wouldn't come in the kit.

Most Jeepers that change their springs plan on replacing the main eye bolts because the 21+ year old factory bolts have rusted solid in the old spring bushings and have to be cut out.

Get grade 8 bolts at your local auto parts store or hardware store. Get new nuts & washers also and assemble with Antisieze. I don't remember the size, but if you remove a nut from one of the spring eye bolts and take it into the store along with the measurement of how long it needs to be, you will be able to match it up. I used flat washers on the nut side so that there would be more bolt shank contact with the inside of the bushing ( and less thread contact). I simply chose bolts with longer shanks and cut the excess threaded end off once everything was installed and torqued.

I don't think the big box stores carry grade 8 large enough for the main eyes.

Good Luck, L.M.

So LuckyMac

I need 8 of the main eye grade 8 bolts? Looks like Morris 4x4s got them.

You see I am trying to have absolutely everything on hand before I start my install. Hoping to eliminate the surprises. I will get some antisieze as well.

Thanks for your help!

Addison

Don't you have a Tractory Supply Co or something similar in your town? I have never had issues getting replacement hardware that was grade 8 at TSC. If you don't have a TSC you can call a local hardware mill, they will have what you need. It should be cheaper to get the hardware locally. Both places should have anti seize as well.

You only need 4 main eye bolts. The other end of the spring has shackles.

Some jeepers cut the old main eye bolts with a Sawzall and a Diablo Bi-Metal blade. You will probably need 4 blades. Spray WD40 or PB Blaster on the blade while cutting.
Other jeepers have used a die grinder with good success.
It just depends on what tools you have.

I commend you for trying to be as prepared as you can be. In my experience, technicians always seem to run across some unforeseeable hitch or another.
I expect a trip to NAPA or Home Depot whenever I begin any project. It gives me a reason to stop at the beer store.

Good Luck, L.M.

Also you might try cutting half way thru and using a wrench and backup wrench and twisting the head off.👍

If you can't find any hardware locally you can literally find any kind of fastener on McMaster-Carr. They have really quick shipping too.
