help with the wife

Wife keeps trying to get me to sell my 88 yj. Fighting it. Finally got it to stop with the whole DW thing so she can ride in it so now she has less issues. No real problems. Mostly little cheap stuff. She is trying to convince me to sell it and get a 10 year newer comanche. Says they are the same price and are just as good for what I want mine for. I know they have problems. Tried to explain that a '97 selling for $1000 less than an '88 jeep should be a good indicator about the quality of the thing but she won't listen. Anyone got anything solid I can tell her so she will leave my Jeep alone?

Fix the nickel and dime stuff, and give her the keys....... That should take care of it

Well, I hate to be the grumpy one here but I have a theory about spouses who try to force their other half to part with things like vehicles and firearms.

Take your balls out of her purse and use them before she discovers they're missing.
Just say "NO! and that's my final word on it!"
Put your foot down, and stand by it. It's a Jeep, they have issues, if it's not one thing, it's another. You can't go topless in a Comanche and it's going to have stuff that needs maintenance too.

In the meantime, fix the things that are wrong with it so she doesn't feel uncomfortable riding in it. Procrastination is one thing that will make a woman pissy faster than you can shake a stick.

If all else fails, save up and buy a Comanche to add to the fleet.

Where did you find a 97 comanche ??? I thought they stopped making them in '92. Almost everyone I've seen for sale has been rusted out or beat to hell.

But seriously, fix the little stuff so there is nothing to really complain about. Or just buy her the comanche if she wants it that bad

Man, where are the men? Guy, I am so sorry you are in this situation but try to remember the obvious... YOU HAVE BALLS! I mean you didn't give them away are something, did you? Get off your ass and stand tall! What is the matter with men today? I am 46 and married to a lady! I have six children and all know that I am a man. Are you going to let her make you give up your vehicle? What will be next? Did you make her give up things? Your job is head of the household. Her job is to be your helper. My wife knows that. How come your doesn't? I know, it sounds harsh to you but you shouldn't have to "reason" this out. It shouldn't even be up to discussion unless you have indicated this is what you want to do. I have no problems with my wife's suggestions, opinions, help, and ideas. Truly I relish them and want to know what she thinks. HOWEVER, I have the final say. I have to make responsible decisions and I do make mistakes. But I have that final say. This is how it is was supposed to be before the feminist/ political correct crowd came into power. You and your wife have more issues than the jeep, I am afraid.

Take care,

the boyfriend wnats me to sell mine too but its just because its falling apart and I dont have the money or know how to fix either one. basically you need to get her a toy or something she will love as well basically the amount of money spent on it you have to spend on her as well but kate is right if you love it and her tell her nicely to back off and no you are keeping it-final answer

....well maybe the guy knowing if its not one thing its another to argue about is trying to come up with a peaceful solution before he starts rolling heads... thats what id do...but once that fails the hell with it.

I find random beatings help a lot when dealing with my wife. If you get predictable with them, they'll learn and start stepping you down.

I have the same problem, my wife hates the jeep becaue it needs a few things but it doesn't need them to be fully functional which it is ATM. I told her the only thing I would sell my jeep for is a street bike (winter is right around the corner and in Idaho that means snow!) she promply stop asking me to sell the jeep, now if she brings it up I just tell her if she wants a new car that we can always sell her car and buy her a JKU which gets a very funny reaction lol
