Hid retrofit write up

So I recently upgraded my headlights to hid and wanted to share with you all what I had to do first off I went to theretrofitsource.com and got the morimoto mini bixenon stage 3 kit and h4 motocontrol harness which includes all the wiring and everything you need to make them work I also bought some h4 glass lens housings off eBay for 30$ From there I had to take the glass off the housing putting each headlight in the oven at 265 degrees for about 15 minutes to soften up the glue so I didn't break it. Then I took the housing out to my belt sander and removed the entire back side of the housing and replaced it with a 3 inch pvc pipe end cap with a hole drilled in the center big enough for the projector end to fit in. Then I placed the projector in to figure out how much more needed to be trimmed by placing the glass lens back on till it fit back into the channel on the housing. After test fitting everything together I took it all apart and made sure the pvc end cap was as straight and centered as possible and used epoxy to glue it all together once dry I painted the back of the housing. After the housing dried I put the projector in as per installation instructions provided and used the glue that comes with the kit to seal the glass onto the housing. To accomplish it without breaking the glass I used a heat gun to soften the new glue and sealed it up now time to install on the jeep. I had to remove the adjuster part hooked to the grill and trim out a little and also some of the grill behind it so the 3 inch pvc end cap would fit and I could still adjust it once that was cleared then it was as simple as a headlight change the wiring harness was plug and play and I had to aim the headlights and it was ready to go the last pictures are my before(top) and after(bottom) hopefully this helps anyone wanting brighter headlights it was really easy to do and the light output is incredible. Any questions please feel free to ask

Did you have the trim the 3 inch pvc pipe end cap? If not, what was the length of it? That looks about 3 inches deep as well as wide.

I've got the components in the garage and need to sit down and get this done.

Do you have a body lift? I've been looking at that bumper and want one that has the wings come up flush with the fenders like the ARB bumpers do.

I do have a 1inch body lift and I did not have to trim the pvc end cap only drill the hole for the projector to fit in that's why I went with the 3 inch one I'm not sure on how tall it was just the standard pipe end cap at Home Depot

theretrofitsource.com has the 7" round buckets for easy swaps and were talking about making a housing for the square lights but maybe the lack of demand killed it.

But then I'd have to go to all the trouble of taking them out and having to re align them once the new ones are done that would make me want more money for mine

I finally got all the components and will start the swap this weekend. I've been chasing down an issue with a retrofit I did in a 2500HD I drive. The holes in the headlight mounting points had wallowed out leading to the headlight vibrating and causing the HID bulbs to missfire.

Well he might be able to afford the parts if someone would goto work and not call out 1-2 times a week, when he worked with me he went to work everyday. Then he quit when I was on vacation. I was like wtf man
