Hitch for my YJ

Hi guys,

I'm ditching the bumpers I had from the PO to something a bit... lower profile and more usefull.

I am looking for a back bumper that doubles as a hitch, does anyone have something like this, or do you know of any company that makes those? I am thinking of fabricating something, but maybe buying would be better in the end.

Thanks

That top one was the exact bumper I was going to suggest ... some people don't like Smittybilt, but They make what I want ...

If you are looking for a bumper to tow with, neither of those bumpers are going be what you are after. The do not have any mounts for safety chains. If you only want a hitch reciever so you can mount a bike rack or something like that, then it should be fine.

I just mounted my bumper tire/carrier with reciever and through and through shackle mounts. I bought it off e-bay and this thing is great. Robert makes them to order and if you want something extra you just let him know. Great guy. Welds are excellent and everything matched up perfectly. Has a lifetime waranty. His store name is dirtworx. I will post pixs shortly here and going to start a thread also.

Yes, thats why I am thinking of fabricating something, it will have the safety chain mount. Thought here a safety chain is not required, I think its actually a very sane thing to have. Towing would be light, if at all. The receiver should work with a bike mount.

Here you go. Mine was bare metal and I just primed it for this weekend. Will have it powder coated after.

There are 10 bolts that hold it on. There are boxed tabs on the other side and tabs that bolt it straight to the frame underneath. On the rear crossmember there are the 8 slotted holes were the bumperets mount. Then underneath there is one hole on each side under the frame. All hardware is included and they are grade 8. I will take pictures of it in the morning. Oh and yes it is fully boxed.
