Hmmm?

What is the bracket on the back of the yj?
I thought it was added on for a CB antenna, but I just seen one on another YJ.
Its on the passenger side rear, near the tail light.

Also I'm getting my panels finished welded tomorrow.
What should I do to the frame to stop rust/prevent it?

It looks pretty bad, but not rotting or anything yet, no holes.
Someone put some kind of black stuff on it though and its chipping off, not sure if its just paint or what.

Oh also...

I took my Speedo out yesterday, and i didn't know how to remove it, I ended up taking the whole metal wire that goes down the tube with it...

Is that normal?
I tried to put it back in put it wont fit, it looks like it squares off at the bottom so it slides into something.. But can't get it too. Is it broke or what?

Bracket on the back of a YJ is a tailgate stop. Keeps the open tailgate from coming around and saying, "hello" to the right rear fender.

tailgate/tire bump stop. It's so your swing gate and tire doesn't smack around the side of your tub.

I just sand blasted my plow jeep's frame and then used POR-15 on the whole frame to protect it. Best stuff to use, or use Bill Hirsch automotive frame coating...used that on my 1930 Buick Marquette 15 years ago...still looks as good as the day I put it on.

For the speedo, did you take it out of the dash, or just the cable out?

Took it out completely. Out the dash.
Yea I'd sandblast it but not wanting to take everything off the frame. I would if I had a shop or barn... I'll prolly sand paper it all and paint it like u said though

And okay the tailgate makes sense. Going to use it as a cb antenna whip bracket still

If you can't sand blast, use a drill with a wire wheel attachment and it makes things go pretty well, or an angle grinder with a wire wheel. Just make sure you wear gloves and eye protection...

x2 on the POR, and you can brush it on.

Just tried out some Rust Bullet (competitor of POR)...looks like crap, never again with that stuff
