SO...... I have my little 2.5 just curious how big a mud tire i can put on it i'm not worried about fuel consumption cause this isn't my daily driver but I don't want it to be so big that i'm beating the hell outa the tranny or engine.

I would say 33 would probably be the biggest you could go. It will suffer a bit on the highway without re-gearing though. If you re-gear, you should not really have any issues. I would not really want to go over 33 on stock axles either due to chance of breakage increasing.

I've seen 44s on a four cylinder with stock axles, I wouldn't go that far but they can take most anything all depends on gearing

If you have a winch you don't need bigger tires right?

Running 35's

This question depends upon your "gearing."

I'm running 35's without any problems in 4.88 gearing.

Buy that Lady some boots Pullsout.

She might like getting dirty.

I have one better than that.. I picked the wrong line going down a hill... asked then gf if she wouldn't mind getting out and using the tow strap on the big tree behind us as well as running the winch cable. She said sure, and then asked, what happens if she didn't... I said well, the rear of the jeep will lift off the ground and we will then be under the jeep.. she ran real fast.

4Jeepn Ha, aha!

It's great to see Women on the trail and even more fun to see Lady "riders" become "seasoned-spotters."

Concise clear answer I can give:

90 -Jeep YJ
I'm running 35's with 4.88 gears, 2.5 engine (no-mods).
I can go places some of the Jeep 4.0 liter Jeeps have trouble.
I can go anyplace they go.

Every time one of those "six" cylinder guys run out of fuel, they come and "leach" onto me (to siphon fuel) because I'm running the same trails and burning only half the fuel.

I think you should go with 46's and drop a 1.8 liter 95' escort wagon engine in it. See if the car will even idle.

I'm hopping my gf is up for some trail riding and hummer hunting. She keeps telling menim obsessed so I just tell her it's a jeep thing. Shes against me buying bugger wheels cause she has trouble getting into it now.
