How much does a new clutch cost?

I know most of you will say "Do it yourself, it's cheaper!", but I don't have the know how for that.

Do you guys know how much, on average, it would cost me to bring it into the shop I go to and get a new clutch put it? I have a 93 YJ.

It's been progressively getting worse and I think tax return time is a good time to get this taken care of!

Thanks in advance! =)

When I got mine done, it cost (total) about $1300. However Thats because the clutch failed due to the throwout failing. This was all caused by a leak in the slave cylinder which failed and also had to be replaced. I don't have all of it itemized so I cant tell you how much but I would guess the slave cylinder and labor was probably close to 300-400. And I was also charged labor because they had to take it all apart to find out the problem in the first place. Keep in mind that if you get a dealer spec. clutch it will cost more than a cheaper after market(which I got) clutch, this is something the shop should give you a choice on. I would imagine that 500-700 is about right, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a little higher.

Clutches seem to be a thing that goes out often my uncle warns me of it. But I know I need a new one now I can look up how to do it and could possibly do it in my drive way

Hey, I live in north America too, bring it on over and we'll get er done.

Whatever you do, unless it's under warranty, don't take it to a dealership. Find a small shop.
