I hope to get this YJ tomorrow. My first Jeep

I hope the pics come through.
Here is the description.

1988 Jeep Wrangler YJ:

Manual 5-Speed transmission (new clutch in January)
4.0 Liter (242 Cubic Inch Engine) – Completely Rebuilt in 2001 / This is known as one of the strongest and most reliable engines that AMC/Chrysler ever produced!
Super reliable! (Great cold starter in the winter too)
Custom paint job – Corvette Chrome Yellow
Custom stainless steel protective surfaces around entire jeep
Has pretty much every aftermarket chrome option available for a jeep!!
Custom exhaust – Glass Pack (free flow exhaust that has a great low rumble and increased performance) and chrome exhaust tip
Push Button Flame Thrower Exhaust (AWESOME! Check out pictures - people LOVE seeing this Jeep shoot flames & I will teach you how to use it!!)
Heater works well & Jeep stays really cool in the summer (so fun driving around with the doors/top off on a nice day!)
4” lift, 2” body lift – Incredible clearance
33x12.5” Off-road/snow tires (still pretty good tread) and good spare tire
4 wheel drive works great!
New Breaks! (all replaced in November 2010)

CD/MP3/Auxiliary & iPod stereo
8” sub and a 500Watt Amp (lots of power and great Bass sound)
Full set of aftermarket surround sound speaker boxes (sounds great!)
Fully functional CB Radio – for all your off road adventures
Aftermarket off-road pitch & roll indicator

Full engine and transmission upgrade and replacement!
Only 45,000 miles on engine and transmission (no problems)
No rust on frame and still incredibly strong!
Frame has custom undercoating to keep it in perfect condition for years to come

Not bad. Like the yellow but no so much on the top and flame thrower exhaust? Whatt?

And I would ditch the chrome and make it black. Always liked yellow and black.

The Jeep is very nice looking man, but I'd be scared to death of f**king it up 4 wheeling. haha

Question is how crazy are you gonna wheel, if any, and if your ok if it gets messed up.

New Jeep

The Yellow and black sounds cool.
Since I am new to Jeeps and 4 wheeling I will take it slow. When I decide to get more serious I can buy a real crawler or a beater.

Scratches I don't mind so much as long as I don't bend it up.

A guy and his brother built the jeep not sure why the Flame exhaust. Sounds fun though. Some one following to close. Or your friend needs a light.....

looks sweet, would def. bring it in to get all the chrome painted black, or do it youself with some rhinoliner, sand it down with some very rough sand paper and rhinoline it, doesnt come off as easy as when painting chrome with normal paint because you can rough it up a lot more

Just make sure this is a good deal and the perfect jeep for you! Dont jump into anything and then find all the problems afterwards.

I did that myself.

I'm a little skeptical about the flamethrowers. What they do is cut off power to your engine coil, which lets raw gas run through your engine. This washes oil of of your cylinder walls and piston rings. Also, you can't run flamethrowers on a car with catalytic converters. So, either your Jeep doesn't have any or they are bound to be ruined. This can and will cause you to fail emissions test.

Other than that the Jeep does look nice!

Actually the flame thrower may not come directly out of the exhaust it just looks like it, there's a set up that has some small nozzles you clamp to you exhaust tips and I forget what it burns but it comes with a little reservoir and everything. And its just a show that's all

My current Jeep is my first. Ive had it for about a year now and its not on the road yet . But I went right into wheeling on the trials around my house. Didnt take it to slow. Scratched it up a bit and put a few dents in it and broke somethings which I think makes everybodys look unique. But learned somethings on the way by sticking with this fourm

The "Flame Thrower" bit is actually really easy to do. My old man did it with a Model T a few years back. had a spark plug hooked up the tail pipe, wired to a toggle switch tied into the ignition system... with no catalytic converter, a 460 on the front end with twin carbs on top... it was really cool! only problem is its illegal in most states, and Pop did it a bit too close to a motorcycle cop, and well the rest is history... lol

Thanks

Thanks for all the advise. I went to look at it. Those pictures must have been right after he had it painted. The underside was rusted out All over. Rust coming thru the paint at almost every joint and crack. Pictures do wonders for a vehicle.

Still on the hunt for the right Jeep.......

A little sand paper primer and some spray paint does more wonders then pictures. But never ever freak out over a vehicle specially Jeeps. Theres millions of them. Youll know when you find the right one.

And before you buy a vehicle always rember Would you drive it? Cause if you wouldnt you shouldnt buy it. Cause what if something happens and you get stuck with it
