Is there a Certain kind of paint i should use to paint my hard top?

I want to paint my hardtop black to make it look brand new

Quite a few have used bedliner. Thats what im going to use this spring when i take it off.

Will bed liner be a smooth finish? Or will it have bumps

I used rustoluem on my buddy's TJ hardtop before. Sand, clean and apply 2 coats of bedliner.

If you want a smooth finish the top can be sanded down to smooth then automotive paint can be applied, that is what I did.

Dupli-color truck bed liner in a spray can. takes about 7 cans to do the entire outside of the top. That's what's on the top in that <--- picture. Same stuff on the frame and bumpers. Gives it a nice textured finish. washes clean.

i used cheap .99 cent paint from lowes its holding up great , prep is the key.
