Jeep Question

I own a 1987 Jeep Wrangler 4.2 liter i6 made in Canada, does anyone know if AMC made this specific jeep before they where bought out by Chrysler? I'm confused if it's and AMC jeep or a Chrysler jeep?

All yj's were Chrysler made but AMC designed it and started development in 84

My title for my 90 also says 'amer' assuming it stands for American motor corporation jeep.

I found a NY Times article announcing the sale dated march 10 1987, it stated they planned on completing the takeover by june 1987.
my heep was built in oct.1986 so its AMC.

Yeah, the 87 was a transition year. AMC had designed it, and Chrysler was brought on board/up to speed on its progress during the aquisition period. They took final ownership midway through the model year. The same thing happened when AMC bought it from Kaiser. They started the process in around 1969, and finalised during the 1971 M.Y.

During that time they worked out how to fit their long engines in everything. Making 1972 the big rollout.
