Not exactly enough information, and not being able to step around it to evaluate what may or may not have been done, the ball park will be very wide. Ive seen very nice jeeps, with mods for around $4k, and others with a lot of mods and in VERY nice condition listed for low teens. The value will be determined by you and the seller for the most part; but I always tell people to have a non interested third party look it over with you, like a mechanic you trust, and they can give you a better value versus "rose colored glasses" view.

You have pictures, and more detailed info for this?

Without actually seeing the Jeep, its kinda hard to set a price on it. You didnt mention what they were asking for it, but i'm thinking its in the 10K ballpark, even though it isnt worth half that.

If it has a V8 and stock axles, you are just waiting to put a ton of money into it. If the drivetrain is built already and you can play with it without breaking it(which is going to happen). Then the price would go up to somewhere around maybe 6-7000.

Depends on what kind of work was done to it, how well built it is. what kind of mileage is on the rest of the drivetrain. condition of the frame.

There is a multitude of factors, that i would be skeptical about, but that is me. I cant tell you if its a good or bad deal, if you are set on getting it.

Sounds fairly decent then... In the end only you and the seller can determine the value.

Yeah, gotta be worth $20k!!! Especially since he races, that means he's LEGIT. Owning a body shop makes it even better.

Get the Jeep looked over by someone else (who knows Jeeps) after you calm down a bit.

LOL! If its not a Dana 44 or 8.8 rear it is worth a lot less. I destroyed a d35 with a 4 banger. That thing is a piece of garbage. It's a lot of work to swap either of the exles, don't let him try to tell you it isn't. If they aren't broke he didn't take it off road enough or was gentle on it.

only if the jeep was a 4cly 5spd would it have 4.11's. that being said if it was built right it would have an upgraded rear axle to handle the v8.

Exactly. You can skate by for a little while with a V8 on a Dana35 while you collect the parts to upgrade the axles, but that is some thin ice. A Dana 35 will not handle a V8 for too long. The more he says he has driven it like that the closer it is to dying.

This is what happens to a Dana 35 when you wheel it with a 4 banger. Driving down the street with a V8 is just as much, or more stress than what I put on this wheeling it. When this happens, you have no choice but to upgrade it so start getting the parts together as soon as you buy it if that is what you decide.

I totaly agree. Your gonna end up putting a lot of money into the axles and stuff like that. Id offer 5000. People don't realize that you don't get what you put into your jeep out of it. I was gonna buy what petty much sounds like the same thing and he was asking way to much! You just don't get out what u put in!

Agree! That's what happened to my rear axel! But I have the 6cyl 4.2ltr. Long story short I ended up putting over 1500 dollers into getting that stupid thing fixed!

What are you looking for? Us to tell you this is the deal of the century? It's not gonna happen. If you are smart, you'll skip it, and if we're lucky, you might brush up on your typing skills. I'm not holding my breath though.

Axles are easier to swap in a yj than finding p0rn on the internet.. I'm guessing the seller had expensive built axles in the Jeep, but pulled them out to sell them to make some of their money back, and threw some stock axles they had laying around back under it. I've done the exact same thing before actually..

Well, you were fine until the part in red above. Uncalled for, we try to play nice with all members, I would recommend you work on that skill as its more important than how well someone types... and consider this a warning to the rest of you.

Honesty I agree with po234, I was gonna reply earlier to this post but I couldn't even understand what he was trying to say. Check out post #4 for example....
I push the little buttons on my phone and can still write in coherent English. We were just trying to help You before dropping 10k on a yj. If you would listen to us and not be so narrow-minded then you might save yourself some stress, time and money. I know how it feels to be "set" on buying a car, been there many times.
But honestly it really is a
Good idea to take off the blinders, bring a neutral friend and see what he thinks. Wish I woulda done that more than once

while its great that some of you think can type better than others and feel the need to let the freaking world know about it.. it would seem that at the same time you have no clue on how to read for comprehension. thread closed.
