Looking at a 94 YJ...fair price?

I am meeting the owner on Friday to check this YJ out, any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.

"1994 Jeep Wrangler in Florida
cylinders: 4 cylinders
drive: 4wd
fuel: gas
paint color: black
title status: clean
transmission: manual
166k miles

1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ.
Asking 7k OBO.
Jeep is in great condition. Interior is rhino lined and has outdoor carpet for comfort.
4 inch lift on brand new 33inch tires. Tires have less than 100 miles on them.
Brand new bikini top.
Has rebuilt transmission, I have replaced the water pump, radiator, master cylinder, brakes and brake lines, fuel tank, starter, alternator. Very well maintained and cared for. Runs perfect.
Only used as an occasional weekend cruiser.
4 wheels"

Owner claims only rust is on the windshield frame and should cost $300 for a new frame and installation. The rhino line makes me a bit skeptical of this.
Please see imgur album for photos.

It says 7k OBO. I personally think it is a bit high and that he is compensating for the new tires/tranny rebuild.

It is to much for a 4 cyl with that many miles. IMO

Way high, in se virginia, rust free 4.0 in cherry shape sell in the $4500 range. 4 bangers are parts jeeps, or engine swap candidates.

Yes, my area is overloaded jeep wise. If it's not clean, 6 cyl, 5sp, and on 33s correctly, it's not what anyone wants. Jks go cheap, so yjs, and especially tj's value ride that curve.

Seven Grand is probably double what it's worth.

Florida Jeep means check the frame and floor for rust.

I wouldn't even bother to go look at it because if I could live with a 4cyl. I'd probably offer $3500.00. Unless he's had the Jeep for sale for a real long time, he'd consider an offer like that a lowball and might be upset.

Pics show a bikini top. Does it have a complete top? Unless it's been regeared to 4:88s you won't ever get it to move in 5th gear with those 33s.

I say pass. It's your money and you should do what you consider the best for you.

Good luck, L.M.

Just depends where you live. That thing would already be sold around here to someone who just had to have it enough to overlook that inline 4.

Thank you all for your input. I knew the price was high and was planning to go at 4k. Why are you recommending to stay away from the inline 4?

I think if you go test drive the YJ and try to merge on a highway, you will find out one of the reasons.
Luckymac, Krangler87 and Jak_Rak like this.
