Talking Looking to buy first jeep

Hi all,
I am looking into buying my first jeep and I am not sure about this one I am looking at. It is a 1988 Wrangler automatic 6 cyl 4x4. It has been converted over to a throttle body fuel injection system, transmission has been redone has less than 10,000. Seats will need to be replaced or redone. It runs great. The paint will need to be redone but that's not my issue at this time. He is asking $5500 and I believe that is a lot for this model. I would like some opinion on this and what one would offer this person who knows more about jeeps.
Thanks

I just bought my first Jeep, I got a 95 with the 4 cylinder, manual transmission and I'm loving it. The first thing I checked on all the ones I looked at was the frame. Most of it should be fairly easy to see. Make sure there are no holes in it, they are prone to rust. I say really check that over, a bad frame is a deal breaker unless you know how to weld, or have someone that does. If the frame looks good, I would check the value on kbb.com and negotiate a price from there.

Good luck finding one and welcome to the forum

Sounds like a lot for an '88, plus I'm not a huge fan of automatic jeeps. The main thing that you should be concerned with though is rust, the less, or none, the better. I would try shopping around a bit as well, nice wranglers will pop up every now and then and if your prepared, know what YOU want, and know what to look out for with them then you can probably get a good deal on one.
