Looking to by

Looking at this 90 yj, has no rust, a new engine, clutch, and ball joints. Has a 2.5 leter. I like this, its rough around the edges but just cosmetic things. Looking to use it for a daily driver, for some weekend fun, and getting around rough job sites. I want to know if this will be too underpowered or just bad for a dd. And would like some advice and know what other peoples experiences are with their 4 cylinder YJ's. All advice and info is appreciated.

That rig is overpriced. Price is more aligned with a YJ equipped with a fuel injected 4.0.

I think $5800 is way to much plus the 33 inch tires without it being re geared will really slow it down more

Welcome to the forum.

It is common for people to make a thread about their excitement in owning their first YJ 2.5. It is soon after their next thread is asking how to get more power.

You are being told straight out to avoid this mistake. No additional info is needed.

As for the price, that's up to you but seems high. As an owner, I can tell you that the only way that mine would be a dd is if I lived ten miles or less from my job AND it did NOT require interstate or highway speeds. Also, I think I can walk ten miles before sundown...lol

The above is all good advice in my opinion.
33" tires without re-gearing, 4cyl engine and high pricetag would cause me to loose interest.
If your commute doesn't include the freeway and the seller reduces the price by a significant amount it might be worth considering. You can always sell the 33" tires and replace them with 31" tires or even something smaller (perhaps back to stock if you aren't interested in off roading).

Rust, especially frame rust is a big issue with these old heaps. If the seller has put all that money into the Jeep in the past 500 miles, why is he selling it? Did he find something else that concerns him that he isn't disclosing?

Caveat Emptor....Let the buyer beware.

Good luck, L.M.
