Loose gas cap

Have noticed this gas cap seemingly not quite right when I fill the tank, it looks right but doesn't want to lock on with final twist and really loose. Now I've only had this YJ since July and driven maybe 700 miles total.
Recently I put the jeep sideways on a dirt berm with the passenger side on the high side and noticed gas leaking out the driver side back fender area. I had also just filled up the tank. Would seem to be a possible fire hazard and have ordered a new Crown gas cap.
Maybe the P.O. just put on a crappy ill fitting gas cap, I'm not sure. I have a fire extinguisher mounted on roll bar, but that location might be a problem too.

On mine it was the filler itself that was the problem. Was beginning to think that YJs used an odd sized cap till I pulled one from the same year YJ and it still didn't fit.

update; Got the new Crown gas cap and fits tight like it should. Apparently the one that came on this YJ was replaced and/or missing the rubber gasket. All better now.
