Modified YJ - Which Tranny ?

Hello.

I've got a YJ tranny question.
A friend has a YJ with a 4.0L and a flipped Dana 300. The YJ has MOG axles and big tractor tires.
Now he wants a new tranny.
But which one would be the best for him?
A SR4, T4 or T176?
Do they all fit on the 4.0L?
Does the flipped Dana 300 fit?
Which one is the strongest?
Are 3 gears ok or better 4?

What would you do and why?

Thanks for your help!
nicolas-eric

BTW here's a pic of his YJ.

As I recall none of those 3 are anything great, in fact I recall more on the weaker side. If you can find one a nv4500 would be a good pick. What does he have in it now?

Does the nv4500 fit to the 4.0L?
I'll ask him which tranny he has in it now.

And thanks for the link. That does really help.
