My bro-in-law gave me access to his 100 acre spread.....sweet!

Finally got at it. Not bad for Kansas. Was enough to put my yj through it's paces. Had that poor 2.5L windin and grindin.... Found a couple of holes by accident but most of the senselessness was intentional. Had my back tires rubbing the fender flares a few times. Heard the drivetrain sounding like it was just gonna blow up several times but it held up. It likes to shudder and slip once I get to a certain point on an incline or a rock. Could use a bit more front drive maybe, not sure on that but for an ax-5 and a 231 I can't complain. Scared the hell out of the wife (which is why she was on the ground taking pics most of the time) but the kids loved it....lol!

Gotta ad these in....

I'm up in Norton, bout 150 miles North. If the terrain down there is anything like it is here, it's tough to find good places to go. Gonna have to start getting creative....

I fgured out you top issue from these pictures. The top you have is made for Steel full doors. it looks like the PO put on those soft top half doors which do not match up to the curved bar like they would for the Steel doors. What he did to compensate was to move the center bar forward to match up to the door frame. This means you probably cant get the roof high enough in the center and the rear doesn't get as tight as it should. Also your side rear windows are probably all out of sorts.

Oh and you realize your rear passenger side Spring is not connected at the rear shackle? Pictures 1 and 5 show it clearly. 6 shows it looking like it slides back in and bottoms out.

Holy!!!! I didn't notice that at all..... That explains some of the things I was hearing.....lol. The jeep had full hard doors at one time. When I got it, the window frames had been cut off and those soft uppers were slapped on. Anyway, what you're sayin kind of makes sense but I either have to get a new set of hard doors or some bestop uppers I guess. Then I can make the top fit right?? I'm in the process of modifying those hard doors into half doors which is really a big pain in the xxx.

Do you mean the center bar where it mounts to the tub is moved forward?
