my first wrangler! 1990

1990 134k miles on it, $3200. Paying for it and picking it up in the next hour or so. After 2-3 weeks of looking, finally got one. Will post more pics once I have it.

About to go pick it up and pay for it. The seller had to go get the title from his retired dad.
Carpet has been pulled up. Drivers seat is a little torn, but passanger and rear are perfect condition. Hard top is in excellent condition. And it has a 3" lift. Not much and the picture doesn't show it well, but its there. Will upload pics soon. Now about to leave

Before the drivers seat gets too messed up, go ahead and swap the passenger seat in and wear on it a little. You have to take the seat loose from the mount and sliders but its easy enough.

The best, most obvious idea I never thought of. I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

Think ill be doing that tomorrow. I'm going to be heading down to a scrap yard and see what they've got tomorrow. Hopefully I can find the hardware for a soft top. Oh and also a center console.

Having a little trouble getting the drivers side door off. Passanger came off once I put some wd40 on it. Treated the drivers side the same way, but nothing. Any tips? I'll take a pic soon, as soon as I got the pass side off, my radio told me a storm was coming, and here it is.

still cant get it off, but it stormed as soon as I put wd40 on it, so going to throw some more on it tonight and hope it's okay in the morning.
but good news is - I went from stalling out as soon as I try to move it, to being able to drive manual today. pretty happy now, can understand why my friend that test drove it for me loved it.
one thing though, the accelerator is really stiff, any suggestions?

Oh and also, it died today at a red light, I shifted in to N, and it just turned off, pushed it into a parking lot with the help of a jeep owner disguised in a VW jetta.
I popped up the hood, he looked at it, and the (coil Cable?) I'm not sure what it was, had popped out, he took a look at it and the conductive metal had just corroded and it crumbled in his hand. he drove us to autozone and it was a $3.54 fix. but in the morning I'm going to look at all the cables around it, and if needed go buy the kit that was like $20.

PB Blaster works better IMO. Hit it once or twice a day with PB Blaster until it comes off.

You can find center console's pretty cheap on the web. I got a brand new one (locking) for my YJ for 75 bucks. You can probably pick up a used one for around 40.

yeah, i need one as I don't have one at all, and I went to get coffee this morning... no cup holders. made for an interesting experience. haha
got the doors off, the WD40 I left on overnight did the trick.

can anyone tell me where the fusebox is for the inside lights? they're staying on because of the doors.

I used to just unplug the wires from the back of the door pressure switch. Much easier than pulling/replacing the fuse every time.

Good luck on going to a yunk yard and finding anything for a YJ in Virginia... I went to one down by Fredericksburg, only thing i found was a single yj stripped down to the tub and frame, literally every single piece was missing.

Then they had one YJ in their section where they will not let you enter. If you want parts, you have to pay labor for their guys to take it off... and unbelievable markup on price.. Maybe you can find a better yard... Good luck

I was thinking that when I read the junkyard post. Yeah it's like that pretty much everywhere in the country.

I am pretty sure all junkyards sell on eBay now (Why wouldn't they...). So whenever they get in a high demand vehicle like a Jeep, they dont just throw it out into the yard for guys to break 9 things trying to take off 1 thing... They hold it and part it out online... Smart for them, SUCKS for guys like us that like to go get stuff for cheap... They guy at the yard i was at wanted $500 for a family style roll bar. I tried to explain to him that I could buy one for about $100-$150 on craigslist, but I was there so I would even pay $150 to just take it then. He said no way, and claimed he has turned down a $400 offer on the roll bar already. I literally laughed at him when he said that, and not even on purpose. Anyone that would turn down $400 for a rollbar at a junk yard is a f***ing moron.

Hahaha. Yeah seriously. Shoot ill sell my roll bars for 400!! And great point about the junkyards. I'm considering buying a donor for some work I want to do on mine and then parting out the rest. Looking for deals.

To turn off your light pull the pressure switch plug just behind the switch in the channel. That will be easier for you. Then you can still turn your lights on with the dimmer switch if you want them.
