Need Help 95 YJ transfer case cracked

I have a 95 YJ 4Cyl Manual trans. We hit a board on the highway and it cracked the transfer case and pushed things back. Had it towed home. Afraid it may have damaged the transmission too. My cousin found a transfer case and trans out of a 97 jeep 6cyl. Can they be interchanged? I'm cash flow challenged. What are my options?

6 cyl usually have different input spline count. You could tear it down and move your input shaft over. It's not difficult. The best combo would be Jeep case. Chevy S10 231 internals. The S10 internals are what Jeep called HD. Jeep HD transfer cases are expensive. Chevy S10 transfer cases are very cheap. Usually never shifted into 4wd in their lifetime. Input shaft from your 4cyl still necessary.
