need new door tumblers/locks?

so i picked up my jeep with an extra set of hard doors, they were taken off another jeep so my key doesn't work on them. what is the easiest and cheapest way to be able to lock those doors? if its getting re-keyed, or new locks with a new key thats fine i just don't know the best route to go.

It will kinda be your preference. You can buy 2 new door locks and carry an extra key or you can take those cylinders (out of the doors) and your ignition key to a good lock smith and he will rekey it. Probly be about the same money, I dunno.

Ask a couple of locksmith shops what it would cost. Unless you have the tools and ability to do it yourself that is who you need to talk to anyway. When you get an answre let us know.

I bought a set of doors from a junkyard, one was too old to take my ignition key and the other could. Definitely call around and try to find a local shop. Some locksmiths work out of their vans and charge a lot because they drive out to you.

It cost me $20 to rekey the lock and $12 to make a few keys that fit the other. In both cases I had pulled the lock cylinder from the door and went to the locksmith. Someone had recommended Pop A Lock to me, and they wanted over $100 to rekey one...
