Need tire info!!!

I currently have 31X10.50 on my '92 Wrangler, with factory fender flares. These fender flares don't cover these tires, which won't pass the safety inspection for Hawaii. If I wanted to buy new fender flares, I'd have to schedule an appt. with the gov't to apply to alter the exterior of the vehicle, so that's not a favorable option, not to mention the price. The inspection guy told me to buy an old set of factory tires for inspections, then swap back out... Problem is, I don't know what size they are. I also need to know about the studs... Mine's a five-bolt pattern, but that can come in different diameters. Thanks for the help!!!

Factory YJ wheels are 15x7 wheels with a 5 x 4.5 (114mm) lug pattern. You can find these pretty cheap ($80 for 4) online or at a local salvage yard if there are any near you. There are some steel 15x6 wheels that came on very base YJs for a while. I have had 31 x 10.5 wheels on my YJ with both the 15x6 and 15x7 wheels and they did not stick out past my fender flares. The key to this is to have a minimum of 4.5 inches of back spacing on the wheels (rims). That is the measurement from the lug mounting surface to the inside lip of the wheel. If you go with 4.5 inch back spacing those tires will rub when you turn the wheel to full turn lock position but will be fine in normal riding. Hope this helps. Good luck. And yes if you buy a set of cheap wheels (rims) you will need to swap your good tires onto them temporarily or get a set of these wheels with tires already on them. Once you are done with inspection just keep these around for spares or for your next inspection.

As previous poster said get a cheap set of stock rims, either size but get them with tires. You'll find stock rims and tires all day long on craigslist. You really don't want to have to pay to take the tires off your current rims and then have them mounted and balanced and then repeat to put back on you "good" rims. You'd have to do this every time you have to do an inspection.

Cheaper to get used rims and tires. Good Luck!
