New Guy! First Jeep... 1989 YJ Sahara

Hey guys,

Just got my first Jeep Ever!! Just drove it home and I am stoked!
Bought it from a buddy who babied the heck out of her. Check it out.....

He stuffed 31's on it and I am looking into a mild lift to have them not
rub. Plus they are the stock 21 year old springs/bushings, etc.

Thanks for the great site. Came lurking here to learn before I bought it.

Hey thanks guys. It really got treated well. Only 94K miles on it.
Runs like a champ. I am leaning toward doing a 2" BDS lift to get the
31's to actually fit and work offroad w/o rubbing. My kid already said the doors and top need to come off.... LOL. It was 101 in Oregon today.....

He is right! Should be super cool! I have a buddy who is going
to give me a mirror that mounts onto the three windshield bolts.
Law here says you still need a drivers side mirror. Lookin for a bikini top....

I have the same Jeep as well. 31 with stock gear might limit your speed uphills(depending on tires thread, weight etc). In city, it should be fine but hw it's another story, I was not able to get past 64 MPH (flat), 45-52 max on long up hills.

Sweet. Though that Jeep stock might not handle 31s to well, I know that the TJ's can off road. But I agree with your kid. Goin' topless and doorless is probably my favoritest thing ever.

I agree. Trust me the tires can rub just on street if wheels are turned just
right/wrong. Gotta do something about it. I am looking at lift kits now.....
