new or rebuild?

Need engine repairs...but parts are the same as a rebuilt engine...what do you guys think and where can I find an engine in south texas(san antonio area)?

I would rebuild it myself.
To me, it's not about cost. It's about the grease under my fingernails, the tools in my hands, being able to point to it an say, proudly, "I built that". It's an awesome feeling.

I would do it my self. The first time I rebuilt one I did for bragging rights now I do it so I know it right I know what parts are in it and where they came from. I average 2 rebuilds a year for other people and never had an issue.

I agree do the rebuild yourself. Do it yourself and then you will have the confidence knowing you can fix anything and you wont have to pay someone else $100 an hour to tighten bolts.

Well I work 84-100 hour weeks so that's not an option...but my mechanic is inly charging 700 in labor for an overhaul...looking at new engines now though...I'm leasing it and they want to keep the price down
