New owner questions

Bought my first Jeep (1990 Wrangler) a few weeks ago and I am starting to figure out what I want to change. The obvious was the rear axle which the PO had spun the housing on. I have a Ford 8.8 waiting to be welded up. The drivetrain is a 4.3L with a 4L60E mated to the original 231. It has a ProComp link conversion and a 3" body lift.

The soft top was ripped when I got it. I had it sewn up but not sure how long it will hold. I have found a couple of good deals on TJ hard tops and was curious if they would fit on the YJ without significant modification?

Did the YJ ever come with a center console? Will the center console out of a TJ fit? What about the seats out of a TJ?

I have been unable to find any rust on the body which makes me believe that it was replaced somewhere along the way given that it is a Great Lakes area Jeep. I am considering taking the carpet out and using bed liner on the interior. Are there any negatives to doing that? Don't really care for carpeting in an off road vehicle anyway and thought it would help eliminate the carpet holding moisture after a day of mudding.

Forgot one question. Are the sound bars interchangeable between a TJ and YJ?

Bedline it for sure. I really like being able to just wash my jeep out with a hose.

I'm not sure on the seat or console.

I don't believe that the TJ/YJ tops will interchange, but the CJ hardtop will fit as long as you get the CJ hard doors and striker plates, as they are a little different than the YJ's. The seats aren't a direct bolt in either but it shouldn't be too difficult to make a adapter bracket from the TJ seat to the YJ frame. Use the search option up above, there have been a couple guys that use Pontiac Sunfire (?) or some other GM seats that bolt right in and look good too. Other than that it sounds like you have a pretty good start.
