New Seats

Well the stock seats are finally starting to show their age, looking to keep the same style, but saw these seat covers by Wet Okole in another guys rig in a local parking lot. They look awesome and the owner loves them, wish I'd have thought to ask to sit in them but didn't have a chance.

Anybody out there have any experience with them???

https://www.wetokole.com/mm5/merchan...&Per_Page=1000

Otherwise I'm leaning towards a set of the plain vinyl Smittybuilts…..

I have the Bestop Trailmax II seats and they've held up well for the past 5 years. I'm guessing that they're the same seats now being sold by Smittybilt.

Good Luck, L.M.

Looked at those too, they look like the side bolsters are shaped a little differently, but yeah you're right they look about the same.

One of the first things I did was swap new Smittybuilt seats in my 91. Whatever the cheapest are on Quadratec. It's a weekend-fun rig, but I have zero complaints about these seats.

Im with luckymac on this one. Trailmax seats by bestop. They look great, almost like a factory upgrade. Think of like factory Corbeau seats in a wrx sti. My only complaint is that they set you up higher in the cab. Noticeably higher. They also get hot pretty quick but that's negligible.

Thanks L.M., F.H.C., and UPS. Between the three of you I got the answers I needed, With the pics you guys posted I was able to use the Roll Bar to verify the height of both seats installed. Being 6'2" I always kinda wanted a little taller seat anyhoo. L.M. once posted that his new seats sat a little higher when he installed them, so Trailmax II's it is. Now the tough question, Vinyl or Denim??? so many choices....

A month or so ago I posted a pic of some neoprene seat covers I put on my F250. Got them from CalTrend Seatcovers. Really happy with them. Great fit and, I think, really good looking. Might toss them in the hat before you choose.

Unfortunately we do not have a discount code. However for a discounted quote you can go about it 3 ways:

1) PM me with your first & last name, address, zip and the part numbers you would like to order. I'll reply back with a discounted quote if applicable. This takes 1-2 business days (or less) on average depending on PM volume.

2) E-mail my sales rep Rob at: [email protected] Tell him you're a Forum user and would like a discounted quote. He'll get that going for you. He typically responds within hours if it's Mon-Fri 8am-5pm Eastern.

3) Call my sales line at 1-800-745-2348. Tell them you're a Forum user and would like to place an order with your Forum discount. Their hours are Mon-Thurs 8am-Midnight, Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday 9am-5pm.

Whichever you prefer works for us.

Hailey

You could also do the Pontiac sun fire seat swap. Apparently it's a direct bolt on. But why spend money on something that will only make you a little happy. Lessons learned with this jeep. Buy exactly what you want to begin with so you're not taking a loss later on. Been through 2 sets of fender flares and 2 sets of soft tops.

Heard Ford Ranger two piece bench works too, built in armrest with console, I had a 2000 ranger and liked those seats, but still wanna keep the factory style seats, It's a Jeep Thing.

When i was looking for replacement seats this was the main complaint i heard about the Bestop Trailmax II Sport seats. I am 6'3" and i was concerned about the seat height and was worried they were going to be way different than the factory seats.

So i bought them and compared them to my factory seats before i even attempted to bolt them in. They were pretty similar to the height of my worn out busted factory seats.

What makes them sit higher is the foam is way more dense and does not sag. My old factory seats foam was worn out so bad that if i was sitting in the jeep and reached under the seat i could feel my ass hanging below the frame lmao.

You can not do that with the bestop seats! The foam is so rigid you do not sink. While i never remembered my YJ seats being as stiff as the bestops when new i am sure they were stiff enough to keep your ass above the frame. The reason old busted seats feel so low is because they are worn out.

My bestop seats have broken in and are a little softer than they were when new but are still very firm. I like the way they feel and the bolsters work well at keeping me in the seat. I also like the high backs on them (i hate low back seats it looks like a broken neck waiting to happen).

I would buy these seats again but i made the mistake of getting fabric centers and i wish i wouldent have.

Yeah that's kinda where I'm at on the fabric vs vinyl, I was looking at my 2 yr old roll bar pads thinking they we're fading a bit more than I'd like. leaning towards the vinyl for cleaning. I drink (Spill) a lot of coffee and the vinyl just makes sense, who cares if it's 115 most of the summer I'll just get longer shorts to wear. LOL

Then I sat in my stock seats, yeah I ran around to the passenger seat since it doesn't get as much use, added an inch or the thicker Trailmax II's and still have room to hit the pedals to the floor comfortably. And you're right the extra few inches in the headrest will come in handy on long drives.

I have to look forward and hunker down just to see the color of the stop light in my jeep. Im 5'10. And yes in the summer time, put something over the seats because they heat up very very quickly. 3 minutes under the sun and it'll burn your hands to the touch. That's the reason I got a deal on my seats, the previous owner hated how hot they got. I picked up both in nearly new condition for $120.

A. What's a stop light?
B. Everything's hotter than hell in the summer, kinda used to it, but thanks for the heads up.

I have no ass, just thighs straight to lower back....

If I ever bought new seats, I would put seat covers on them anyway. There seems to be more options for seats with the headrests than there are for highbacks.

I also have the Bestop Trailmax II denim seats and found them to be very comfortable and sit higher than the original worn out seats. Wish I had a tilt steering column to go with them. Still well satisfied with the Trailmax II seats.

I dont like neoprene everyone says it traps sweat and starts to smell bad so why would you want your jeep smelling like back and ass sweat? lol...

i have looked into seat covers for my trailmax II's and i haven't found anything. I bought a set of Dickies heavy duty seat covers and they were anything but heavy duty so i returned them. They actually fit fairly decent they were just poorly made and i could see the bottom cover blowing off on the highway. I want a nice set of fitted covers but they dont exist.

I've used Wetokole in other vehicles I've had, their factory is close to me and they custom make the covers too. Never had a problem with smell, other than the typical wetsuit/neoprene smell, which I actually like because I'm used to wetsuits from surfing. Wet Okole means "Wet Ass" in Hawaiian, they were originally made for surfers getting into their car while still wet, so they hold up good in wet weather. They're easy to take off and wash too

I went with PRP suspension seats for my YJ and couldn't be happier......my wife loves them too. They're great if you have back issues. I'm 6' 195 lbs, and they're not too high like a lot of the aftermarket seats.

Went to look them up. Their website didn't go before 2006, but nice as they are, I little out of my league, I can't put anything too nice out in the open, there's always somebody trolling around looking for something to steal, so I try and keep the temptation to a minimum.

I got this idea from Raoul....

Just leave a paper target on the front seat with a bunch of holes close punched close together. I use a large pencil to get a good group.

Good Luck, L.M.
