Welcome to the forum!

The biggest thing to look for in a YJ is rust. Do you have a 4cyl or 6cyl? Can you identify what tranny you have?

I personally have a Rough Country 4" lift and love it.

Cain you have the RC 4" and love it?? That's what I wanted to get, but I've been scared off by negative feedback on here.

rough country makes good yj products, i've used them, and as far as i know everyone on here has had no problems from a yj stand point.

X2....the RC 4'' lift for the " TJ " is the one that is junk with the bad reviews.

4 cyl should be the ax5 in 89, i know 90 was for sure. kinda week trans. won't hold up to 33 or bigger tires and highway speeds in 5th gear traditionally.

biggest thing to look for is rust like ccain said, check floor under carpet, check windshield frame, rocker panels in and out, and rear section of frame and body mounts for rot.

but sounds like you got a good deal, as you've read rough country makes a good kit for yj. skyjacker and rancho are fine to for yj. stay away from tough country. if you wann get hardcore search spring over axle, also called soa.

lets see some pics of your baby.

Welcome to the forum. How about some pics of the Jeep. I have a 90 YJ and I have a Skyjacker 2.5". Can't tell you if I like it because it isn't in yet and I can't drive my Jeep right now because of my injury.
