New to Jeep

Hey guys im new to this site just thought id drop in and introduce my self. and i had a quick question. I just two days ago bought 94 yj all stock with the 4.0 5spd. beautiful clean vehicle. I am an experiance mechanic and hobbiest. But this is my first jeep, ive been doing as much research i can to try and catch me up on all the great things available for jeeps. {options out the wazoo} Now the jeep is stock hieght with new model cherokee wheels on it 235-75-15. im not really looking at getting new tires anytime soon since the rubber is almost perfect. but i am looking for a small amount of lift just for clearnance and a stouter look. cant really say how offten it will be doing crazy offroading but it will be making some beach trips and trail rides. so ive basicly already thrown out 3' body lifts and add a leafs since one add leafs blow, and 3 inch body will make 3rd and 4th a pain in my rear end. so what are some decently en-expensive options for achieving a small amount possibly 2 inch lift but not sacrifising handling or drivability, open to any options and all opinions,

glad to be a member now, and also a proud owner of a jeep

Welcome!

I wouldn't listen to anything I might say about lift options. But I'm sure you'll get some great advice from others. If not, re-post with a heading like "Anybody Have Ideas for Lifting YJ?" and you'll get plenty of responses. I've fond the folks here to be quite helpful.

And, again, welcome!

Don't go more than a total of 1" of lift on shackles. Any more than that and it puts too much stress on the leaf springs. So the least exspensive root would be 1" shackle lift and a 1" body lift. That might run ya about 300 bucks for the lift. Next cheapest (that I could think of) would be 1.5" lift from super ride for like 500 plus.. I would reccomend (if you don't want a lot of lift) then find something like a 2.5" lift 600-900 bucks and run with that till you run those tires out then get some bigger tires..... you won't be sorry!

If I wanted to go 2" lift and had to go the cheapest root possible I would go 3/4" lift shackles and a 1" body lift to keep away from that 2" mark for needing bigger shocks!
