New to Wrangler

Hey everybody, I just bought a 93 Wrangler on Monday and already I'm having some problems, by no means am I going to let some little things cloud my judgement on getting a wrangler but I should have looked a little more. Anyway here it is, I only paid 1300 for it so I didn't expect perfection.

If anybody could give me a little insight on roughly how much lift this thing has it would be a great help.

Welcome to the forum. What size tires are those? That might help people determine. BTW, nice starter Jeep.

It has the 2.5, 5spd, I'm not sure on the gears though. I know it has a body lift too I'm just not sure on how much for any of it. There is only two things that really bug me about it.

1. The tires get caught if I turn really sharp
2. The steering is so sloppy that I've only driven it on side roads, every bump I hit it just wants to go every way but straight.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

2.5" spring lift with a 3" body lift.

look to see if you have a drop pitman arm,

it probably does not have a dropped pitman arm or any steering correction and the track bar is probably on. if the draglink is not parallel to the track bar you get bump steer. drop pitman arm is ~$40. or, you could chunk the trackbar into the dumpster. either would help and/or fix your problem

welcome to the forum, and ya thats a pretty big body lift. not always a good thing, but thats ok. the tires rub because of the stock wheels, you need new wheels.

nice jeep, you'll have some fun.

Thanks for the responses....lets say hypothetically that it has a drop pitman arm and the trackbar is gone, then what might it be. I haven't had time to check today but that is my plan for Sat.

As for the wheels is it because of the backspacing?? If so what backspacing would I need?

Sorry for all the questions but I've been an import guy up until I bought this.

4in bs should do ya fine......u dont want track bars anyway.......could be a large number of things.....try putting on a steering stabilizer or at least checking the one that is ont there.....check all bolts and tres on front end including shackles and spring plates......most likely is the drag link angle b/c of no dropped pitman arm though

If they havent been changed then you have a Dana 30 front axle and a Dana 35 rear axle, both with 4.11 gears.

agreed on the no 4" bl....dont think they make those.......of course if they did then they would be horrible b/c they would put so much stress on the bolts....still lookin for a video and/or proof of those bolts breaking......wish that the people that made their opinions actually wheeled instead of driving down the highway

Thumbs up

I believe it's a 3 inch body lift, I measured the spacer in the back and it's a little under 3 inches. I don't know how long any of this has been on so I'm going to assume it is a 3 inch. The suspension though I'm not sure on how to figure that one out.

Do you think that 3.75 bs will be enough for wheels?? Where did you guys buy your wheels??

Where did you guys by your drop pitman arms from..I'm trying to find the cheapest yet best for the money.

Thanks for all the help!!

Alright I took some pics today, hopefully these will help with figuring out my steering problem.

I'm not sure if this is a dropped pitman arm or not, I don't have anything to compare it too.

the top picture is the front axle vent tube, its supposed to be the way it is. the second pic that hose looks like a breather that is supposed to be on the valve cover, hard to tell from my memory and that pic, but its almost like its the wrong tube, it should be on the other side of the hose or something.
