OEM YJ Hardtop w/out liftgate handle?

I just bought a used OEM hardtop in great condition. There is no liftgate handle nor any holes where one was ever installed. Does this seem odd to you? It also seems to not have a locking mechanism except by closing the tailgate, which does secure it tightly. Is this the way it's supposed to be? I can post pics later today.

Can someone enlighten me here.

Thanks
Addison

When I found a hard top the handle was so seized it just shattered all the inner guts when I tried to use it so while I do think it's odd I also say there is not much of a point to them because as you know the tailgate keeps it secure. If I were you I would say f- it and be happy you don't have another thing on these old basterds to break!!

Mine doesn't have a handle and is only secured by the tail gate. Must be a style of them this way.

You have the correct top. The ones with the handle were used on CJ's, however there are of course some exceptions. Both CJ7s and YJ's are the same top dimensions, as the CJ's ended and YJ's came out it is not surprising that left over CJ parts were used on the YJ's.
