Unhappy oil pressure drop...

ok guys tell me how big a mistake I've made I changed the oil in my 94 YJ 2.5
to 20w-50 now my oil pressure has dropped from 40 lbs to < 10..too light an oil or???
the engine isnt making any noise at all no over heating...just low pressure on the gauge in the dash? HELP?

out of curiousity, what was your purpose in changing to an oil of that weight? i always run 10-30 or 10-40 and never have any issues. not saying what you did was wrong, just want to know why the change? did you think there was something to be gained by doing that?

actually that oil is thicker.

Think about it, the 90 weight gear lube is super thick. The higher the weight the thicker the oil.

20-50 is what we run in the ol' Harley's because it stays thicker under hotter temperatures. Warm it up, drain it and put in what your owners manual says it should have.

no reason for the change its what I've used in all my past vehicles
and I do run it also in my Ultra Classic

Check out the sender or pump screen could be clogged
