Omg this is going to make me shoot myself!!!!!!!!!

Ok so i just got a used sub and amp from my friend. Both were working in his car two days ago. I have the amp working, but the sub will N O T work. I've tried all four channels, different speaker wire, and tried two rca wires. I knowthe sub works because i tried it in my friends truck. The only thing that's left to check is if the channels are somehow messed up which i don't know how to do. Can anyone think of anything else that i might be doing wrong???? I've check over all the wires like 20 times and theyre all hooked up right. I just don't understand how they were working in his car but not mine. I was listening to the sub two days ago in his and helped him take them out so i know he didnt drop them or anything. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I KILL MYSE;F!!!!!!

This is what I would do. Find a friend with a system in his car or Jeep or what ever and replace his amp with yours and see if it works. Putting the amp into a known working environment will rule out the stereo outputs and confirm the functionality of the amp. Or vice-versa, borrow an amp and hook it up to your system and see if the sub fires or not.

Sounds to me like the amp has gone out.

Well the guy that sold me it came back over and we put it back in his car and it worked just fine. Then we went and hooked it back up in my jeep and wallah... it worked. I have no idea why it wouldn't work the first time bcause we didn't change the way we hooked it up or anything. But.. it's all hooked up and working now except i have to run the power wire through my fire wall tomorrow. Other than that I'm done.

what kind of radio are you using, is the pre-out turned down or off?, Also to rule out your sub being the problem use a mulit meter and check the ohms on it (should register 4 or 8 depending on the style)
