paint restoration

I recently purchased a 1995 YJ and the paint is very dull...can anyone recommend the best reconditioning polish and or process to use? Should I use a claybar kit first? Thanks in advance for your response. PJ

You could try a clay bar or a wax that advertises itself and being able to remove old oxidized paint. Really a good method would be to hit it with an electric buffer with some polishing compound, then after cleaning off the polishing compound hit it with your favorite wax. Should really help bring back the shine, has worked wonders on some of my cars. Really time consuming to do a good job of it though.

Thumbs up Paint restoration

Go to a local detail shop ,ask what they use on the cars in your area..I live in Central cal so my jeep has never been exposed to the likes of road salt but lots of light industrial pollution. Use an appropriate product for your area and do it often

Posts: 11,419 Adam's Polishes Automotive Super Site there are a few sites to help you. But yes, claybar it to get rid of the crud stuck in the paint, polish it to remove the oxidation, and restore some moisture to it, then wax it and keep it waxed to protect it.... I love detailing vehicles, MrCarCrazy does too... We'll be happy to help as much as we can. If you feel the need to go budget friendly then I'd still invest in the claybar kit, and Meguiars or Mothers 3 step system is very effective at restoring faded, oxidized paint.... Lots of work no matter how you go, but it will reward you with much better looking paint.

Check your local auto paint supply places, they have compounds that should cover your needs from heavy to fine and swirl remover,,,,,,,then wax
You'll need a decent buffer
