No, the peugoet was the first tranny that was in the YJ from 87-88 that had the 4.2. The AX-5 is a Aisin tranny that is behind the 2.5l.

There was 4 Manual Transmissions in the YJs. AX4 AX5 [2.5L] AX15 and BA10 Peugeot [6cyl]. There could be one more that was used in KDX models but im not sure about that.

Oh and the major difference in the BA10 is it has a longer output shaft, it is also 21 spline, so NP231s from 87 - 88 YJs with Peugoet will be 21spline instead of 23.
