Posi lock

Went driving in the snow last night and put the jeep into 4hi. The knob for my posi lock seems loose. I have to turn the knob to tighten it and make it engage, same when I disengage I have to turn it "off". Is there a way to fix this. Its annoying. If I don't do this the front rear slips and clunks. Any thoughts?

I had problems with my stock system and installed the posi lock and I had the same cable issue. I did notice when I installed it that the shift collar that slides over the splines was sticking and was probably the original reason that the stock system was not engaging. The added pressure of the cable forced it to go into 4wd. It would pop out like you said if I did not make sure I pulled the knob out at least an inch. As I used it more it stopped being a problem.

This problem just started. In the summer it worked fine. Is there something that needs to be adjusted or tightened?
