Possible new YJ owner

Hey guys, new to the forum. I may be looking into pulling the trigger on a YJ. Just wanted to get some info on lift/tire combos that are possible. I want to start off small, what lift do you need for 33"s?

Also for the 89, is the dana 35 a c-clip or non-c-clip? I wanted to get a detroit for the rear end, and w/ 31s-33s would I need to upgrade axle shafts? If so, what kind is best? I probably won't be running any tough trails for now mainly just sand/mud.

Is there any hidden maintenance that might be good to do if it has about 120k miles other than fluids, plugs, etc. Should I look into replacing any ujoints, bearings, etc. ?

your better off replacing the d35 with an 8.8 or a d44.

I have 32's on mine and a 2" lift would be the minimum needed to have adequate clearance between the tires and the plastic fender flares.

A locker would be more useful in the front diff where the weight of your engine is instead of the rear IMO.

Should just be normal maintenance at that mileage, nothing out of the ordinary as far as I can think of.

I've got 33s on my YJ with a 4 inch lift. Had to trim the fender wells and flares so they wouldnt hit or rub when flexing.

I'm running my 33s on my Dana 35 with no problems so far. But I'm chancing it

Ive got 127K on my YJ and havent had to replace anything yet (knock on wood)
