I was looking into this for my yj as well a 1 inch body lift well help you line up the hood and grill and i think you can get away with using the yj fenders but it might take a little massaging

My neighbor just use a YJ tub for his CJ and he doesnt have a body lift. I'm thinking something is different with the grill mount...either way I will fab one from scratch before I use a body lift

They did this in JP magazine...look them up online and I think they have the whole process of what needs to be done. They change hood, grill, and fenders.

But let me just add this. Before i bought my yj I was considering a cj. But i learned that the cj's frame is actually weaker then the yj. Also i like the yjs interior a lot better then the cj's but i still love the cj front end. And after 92 the yj comes with the family style roll bar. The yj also has wider leaf springs then the cj and has track bars making it more stable on the road. So in my mind atleast the yj is a better jeep then the cj. I just like the cjs front end a lot more thats all. So again in my mind a yj with a cj frontend makes a kicka$$ jeep.

Not sure if you ever got around to doing this yet, but I'm in the process myself. I tried it without body lift, but the taller CJ grill is the problem. You can't lower the grill because the steering box is in the way - may even have to chop some of the grill to fit with the lift (I'm not done yet). I'm using a 1" body lift and it really isn't a big deal. Let me know if you figured out a better way though.

Here is the link for the above mentioned CJ to YJ grill from JP Magazine. Talks about the good and bad of the project. If you decide, post up pics of the build. I love stuff like this.

What really looks cool is to put the frontend and fenders from a Commando on a yj. Saw it in another forum. The Commando grill has welded in extensions on the face to accept the look. It's alot of work, but I think it looks awesome.

That does look cool, is a commando an older jeep?

Also what fenders bolt up to a YJ?
My hood and grill is fine, but fenders are rusting, so Needing to get new ones, I found some cheap CJ and TJ fenders, but only one YJ -_- And help would be appreciated.

If your yj hood and grill are good, then you'll have to replace with yj fenders. You can get em for around $100 if you search around. TJ fenders do not come close at all, and CJ fenders require you to swap out hood and grill, pretty much.

The commando grill and hood I have above is from the 66-71 era. I have a friend that has 5 of them, but he won't part with a complete vehicle. Yes, they are sweet, but are a little hard to find parts for. I belong to another forum where this pic came from. He used the grille and part of the hood to make it work...here is an example of a few Commandos here...
