question about frameless tops

recently I've been looking at frameless tops for the yj. does anyone know if there is a frameless top that will fit my full doors with the rounded corners and my soft doors with the square corners?

great question... you might want to run that by bestop or rampage. go straight to the source.

The frameless top wont work with the full doors, and the half doors have to be bent in on the top to even think about keeping you dry. The frameless velcroes to the windshield bars on the sides and that leaves a big gap between the top and the door edge.

A buddy of mine got one for his, and he had to get an xtra set of half door tops to bend them in far enough to touch. but they were too far in for his regular soft top to work. Plus the frameless is a real pain, cause you cant just lay it back like a soft top, its too bulky to do that.

It works basically like a bikini top with windows, if you peel it, you have to store it cause there is nothing to keep it in place behind the back seat like a framed top. Going down the road with it down, makes it like a big heavy kite flapping in the wind behind you.

I run a softopper frameless top that is designed to work with full doors but I have half doors and use bestop upper sliders that are for the bestop super top and sun rider top. The rampage frameless top only works with the square factory style uppers.

that goes along with what i have been reading. but i have a hard top with full ford and i also have half doors with the square corners so I'm trying to figure out if there is a top i can use where i won't have to buy new uppers. i really haven't had my jeep long enough to know which ones i like better though

If you don't have the stock tub rails for a soft top the you will have to because the rampage top doesn't come with them, and I'm not sure what else you will need. The softopper is not designed to work with half doors and mine leaks a tiny bit around the door seals, I'm sure I can adjust it and get it to seal. I've heard of other people have had no problem. The softopper does come with all hardware and you can run the full doors when it rains.

There is a good discussion on this in the YJ tech forum also.

I basically have everything I need for either one. I have a hard top with full doors and a bestop with square uppers. I will have to check out the tech section. I have read about it on other forums but I haven't found one on here
