Questions About Lifting My Jeep

Okay so I am new to lifting my jeep. I have a '93 YJ and I inherited it from my father who previously had it lifted. It's only lifted about 2" and has 31s. I want to give it a 6" suspension lift and put 35s on it and maybe a 1" body lift. I know I have to upgrade the axles because the stock axles are only rated for 31s. I was looking at Dana 44s for the front and back axles and I just don't know if that is good enough for 35s and also what other things I have to upgrade/modify. If I could get a list of everything I need to do to make it safe at the height I want it to be that would be great! The lift I am planning to get is a Skyjacker Rock Ready® 6" Monolinear Lift Kit with Nitro Shocks. I also read it needs a fifth link traction bar to stop axle wrap but I'm just confused... Any help will be greatly appreciated!

- Bryan

6" lift with 1" body lift with 35's? Jesus dude you plan on carrying ladder with you everywhere you go? I have a 4" with 33's and my 11 year old daughter is huffin and puffin like she's climbing Mount Everest just to get in. Not to mention you don't need that kind of lift unless it's pure off road. I have a feeling that your young and think bigger is better but I will let you in on a secret..... Bigger is WAY more expensive. Look into a nice 2.5 or 4" lift with some 33's at most and you will go anywhere and do anything you need to do. And will save money for when you break stuff because you will! Just my 2 cents!

I'll take your advice! I understand that was high but I just looked at the prices and it was WAY expensive haha. But would the 33s be fine on the standard axles? I think I'll do a 4" on 33s. Thanks for the advice!

No problem, trust me when I was younger and getting into jeeps and off-roading in general I thought I needed the worlds biggest lift. Even with a 4" lift sometimes you start getting into add ons like sye's. I run stock axles right now just because I bought my newest yj 3 months ago. Don't plan on running 33's forever with the Dana 35. You will or "should" be fine for now as long as you do not go all ape shit off-roading. Ford 8.8 is the rear end I plan on by this fall. It's the easiest swap.

Alright thanks! So all I really need to purchase now is the tires and lift? And just eventually upgrade the axles? I just want the lift to be safe ya know. And I don't really plan to go ape shit on my jeep haha. You helped a lot thanks bro!

Most good brands come ready to bolt on, just make sure they come with a transfer case drop and pitman arm drop n you should be good. And extended brake lines. I believe that's all. Someone else plz correct me if I am wrong.
