Quick Hard Top Question!

The wife just found a CJ hardtop for sale ($550). Good glass and "ready for paint".

Will a CJ hardtop fit a TJ? I already have the rounded door frame uppers (but square door skins, square frames on order).

This is the YJ part of the forum. I would try posting this in the YJ section because they know more about TJs than we do.

Oops, dang fingers.

I really meant YJ. If I don't constantly watch my fingers there is absolutely no telling what they'd type.

I don't own a TJ*. I need to know if it would fit a YJ (1995). I also got to thinking after I posted this last night that it probably makes a huge difference if the top is off of a CJ-5 or a CJ-7, doesn't it?

Sorry about the typo. Who put the Y so close to the T on my keyboard?

* That's not to say I wouldn't like to have one in the stable too.

So a CJ-7 top will fit a YJ with full steel doors. I don't remember if it will work with soft doors but my gut tells me no. It may take some muscle to make a snug fit along the windshield channel but it works. I had a top from a 77 CJ-7 on my 89 YJ with no issues.

CJ7 top should fit a YJ without issue. Same tub, same doors, same windshield frame. The only part that is significantly different is the rear hatch. The CJ7 hatch can open separately from the tailgate.

I've heard that the aftermarket uppers for YJ with round corners will fit the hardtops. I have some TJ uppers that fit for the most part. They sit a little low on and don't seal well at the top.

Thanks

Thanks for the responses guys. I sent a message to the seller and the reason they are unloading it is because it doesn't fit their YJ. She says it is too short, so I assume that it must have been for a CJ-5.
