Rain Leaking in Through Tub Seam

Hi Jeepers,

I tracked down a leak. See the pic attached.

I was pulling chips out of this seam. Isn't this suppose to be a welded part of the tub? This is happening on both sides.

Once it dries up I plan and shooting some Great Stuff from the inside to fill the seam. Does this sound right?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks Jeepers!

Just go to your closet auto body shop and buy a tube of seam sealer, that will take care of your problems. You can get some touch up paint to match your color and touch up the seam sealer.

I used clear silicone outdoor caulking. Worked great for about 2 bucks.

I had the same problem with mine and used flowable silicon from an auto parts store and worked great!

Yes on sealer or silicone! BIG BIG no on using foam. Foam holds water and makes rust.

I agree with REDRIDER94...go to an automotive store and buy a quality seam sealer. I wouldn't use clear silicon because it won't hold paint.

I ended up doing exactly what you all suggested and picked up some clear silicon. Laying in bed listening to the downpour outside all I could think about was that the new carpet I just put down. This morning I check it first thing and the silicon worked perfectly! Thanks guys!

Glenn91YJ, you said clear silicon wont hold paint. Do you mean touch up paint wont hold onto it? If that is that case I'm not to worried about that. I think a little clear silicon is that last thing people will notice when they are checking out my exterior
