"Rain?" *update* with solution pic

Hey guys. First off, thanks for the help and i pulled my jeep out into the sun and let it dry and after 3 days, it's done. But i couldn't help but realize this horrible smell everytime i would get in so i let it go for awhile and soon enough i found out where it was coming from. The aftermarket floor mats!! So, I took them out threw them in the washer and they're good as new... well sort of. Anyways, to prevent this from happening again I went to autozone and bought rubber floor mats with a diamond plate pattern. I have to say that i'm not a fan of rubber floor mats but they do look pretty cool in my opinion. Any input?

Id rather have my bed lined...but at least rubber mats don't mildew, remember to take them out when it rains or water will seep and settle underneath the mats.

That being said they look nice

I have my tub undercoated but that's just to prevent rust for when things like this happen. Idk i like the carpet because it feels a little more comfortable than just the jeep underneath you. That's me though. But thanks man!

I've never had them in my cars. Idk why but I just never have. I guess it's just something you have to get used to.

What do you use? I don't like carpet.

I usually go cheap on a pair of carpet mats but as you can see, it's not the most convenient for a wrangler.

I don't have carpet or mats in mine. I really need to spend some time tending to the floor in the YJ though before it starts getting too rusty.... I figure this way at least when it gets wet it dries out quickly enough. anyway, good choice getting rid of the stinky old mats and switching to ones that won't get pongy on you!

**ETA, sorry, I just realized you were asking opinions and didn't actually put the rubber ones in. I guess it's time for me to say good night to the computer! but yeah, unless you just really like having floor mats, you could give it a try having none. I like being able to just stick a hose in there to clean stuff out and have one less thing to mess with

I don't mean to high jack this thread, but does the Bed liner mildew? I was planning on doing this to my Jeep, as I want to just have it with no doors and just a Bimini top.

And OP: If I had to choose rubber mats, I'd choose those. I'm not a fan of diamond plate pattern in most cases, but it does have good grip.

I'm just curious, IDSKoT, you mentioned that the diamond plate pattern has good grip - do you guys find that you need grip? I've never felt like my floors were slippery; maybe because they're old and worn?

Well, its always nice. Don't want your passengers or yourself to slip and fall out. I looked at a jeep today that was bare.floor, and it just finished raining and I slipped getting out.

I used to work at a Chevy dealership, we worked on the big trucks, like Isuzu, Hino and all the GM lineup W~series, Kodiak .....

I got ahold of a set of take-off rear truck mud flaps and cut them into dual purpose floor mats, when I get pulled over, I can zip~tie them to the back to become mud flaps.... Makes it really easy to get that ticked written off.
