Re-Gear Thoughts

I'm doing shopping on shops to regear my front and rear axle. One shop quoted me at 2200 and the other at 750. The second quote was from and axle and transmission shop and the first from just a transmission shop.

This is a crazy range, thoughts anyone?

Going from 4.10 to 4.56 in the Dana 30 up front and the Dana 35 out back. I know everyone's opinions about the 35, but I don't have a crazy budget and I don't wheel much. Mostly DD. I'm running 275's

Can't see spending the $$ on a relatively small gear change for 275s on a DD.

I would just jump to 4.88's... the 265 are close to 31's...and as noted above just not enough of a gain with 4.10 to 4.56 . I hate to see ya put money in the dana 35 though.

Will the housing allow me to go to a 4.88 in a Dana 35?

Also, which one of those price quotes sounds more reasonable?

4.88 should work might not sure what the carrier brake is though...

price wise what all does that include. is that gears and install kits or just labor, what kind of warranty is included? What kind of gears are they using if they supply the gears etc.. Shop I use charges around 250-300 per axle labor and then parts on top of that.

No problem with carrier break going 4:10 to 4:88.

Go to the 4:88 for two reasons
1. Gets you going fast
2. If you go 4" lift and 33s it will be just fine

I running 4:88s on a 2.5L and I get 70 comfortably in the flat hills are another story with 33s.

You'll love it

The 2,200 was for new gears, fluid, warranty, seals.

750 he said was for everything also, but I may swing by there and make sure it is. All of these were in the phone.

2200 seems high after talking to people. That's 1100 an axle.

on avg most shops will be around 1000 -1200 give or take abit for complete install with gears.
