Reclining Seats

Anybody mod their seats to recline? Just wondering if it's possible

I've never heard of it being done. Doesn't mean it hasn't. Why don't you just look into new seats? Or even getting them out of a salvage yard yj or sunfire?

Do the factory ones not recline? I always thought mine were original but they recline. Was reclining seats a factory option?

Mine do not recline, but I have an 89. I would just get new seats but these are in perfect condition. it would be such a waste.

My '90 Base model seats do not recline.

Thought it would be obvious from my expression I don't have reclining seats.

My 90 base model do not recline either, but my daughter has a 91 base model that do recline, so maybe they came stock after 91?

Raoul, I like your humor! Isn't that picture from a Capitol One Viking "Who's Got Your Wallet" commercial?

Going cavalier or sunfire is a great way to go. I got a pair out of totaled car with only 10000 miles for $60. Full recline and comfortable.

See, mines a 92 base, thanks for clearing that up for me. So apparently seats from a 91 and newer yj would work for reclining. It should be an easy swap if you find some.

The reclining front seats were an option in the mid 91 and newer models. Same time they went to the 4.0L motor, with an AX15 5spd, compared to the older model 6's which were a 4.2L with a BA10/5spd.

If you want reclining seats, either get aftermarket or used, don't try and mod your stock rigid seats, the framework inside isn't designed to recline, and in the event of a crash, it will most likely fold and send you catapulting through the windshield...not a good idea.
