Exclamation remove half door window frames?

how and the heck do I remove the half door window frames? (94' YJ)

I have all the plastic off, cant see anything logical to pop this frame out of the door? Does the door panel need to come apart? What the heck???

Anyone ever remove the soft window frames from the top of a half door?

Thanks a million, Im running in a parade saturday to pull a float and wanted to put the half doors on 'er. (without the frames)

Thanks!!!

Chris.

Post a pic, I can't imagine what you are talking about.... Don't they just slip in to the doors like the TJ's?

Yeah, they do just slide in/out. Lube em up good with some PB blaster and let em sit a bit. Pull straight up from the middle. (Straight up in relation to the pins, not the frame shape) May have to rock them slightly. Sometimes they kind of bind up if you are pulling one end more than the other, or your pins may be slightly bent. This should work...

Edit: on the TJ's the inserts stay in the doors always.....

Let me know Chris how it goes. I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly... You are trying to pull the uppers out, not the plastic inserts (receptacle) in the doors? The plastic part remains, just grab the upper frame and lift it out....

Post up after lunch, and if you still need help, I'll get some pics up for you.....

Yeah, you shouldn't be having this trouble at all. Straight up and out. When you do get them out, i'd recommend changing your pins so you don't have this issue again....or clean the ones in there out real good.

oh, also, make sure you unsnap where the skin attaches to the frame underneath the windshield bracket. it'd suck to do all this then potentially rip something cause the snap is still there. snaps just like your top to the top of the door frame.

if you still have the fabric on the frame thiere is a plastic lip that is in a grove on the outside of the door. thier is also a snap on the outside of the door by the mirror

I got 'em! Thanks so much you guys.

I had already removed the skins and still the frames would'nt budge. What I was doing wrong was trying to pull up on one of the three at a time. Once I stood the door up and lifted straight up on the whole frame, all three pulled up and out together. Very cool,

Thanks again! I love my "Transformer" jeep! Today it is red/white with the luggage rack loaded up with shovels and buckets to help pull rocks out of our local dirt track after work today and the hard top. Tomorrow it will be all white, half doors and topless with a parade float on the back in Columbiaville MI.
