Removing half doors

Sorry for the noob question but this bolt under the top hinge for my half doors, I'm assuming you need to take it out in order to take the doors off, it only makes common sense to me but.

My real question is do you have to bolt it back on? Is the door going to bounce around if I don't put the bolt back on and hit a bump?

The bolt is part of the hinge it stays. There is a nut that your probably seeing. Yes take that off. I lost mine soon after removing my doors for the first time. Never to be seen again, the door will not bounce around. Once that's removed, remove the top half of your half doors. Reach through and grab the underside like your carrying some books and open and close the door slightly as you pull up.

Yep, take that nut off and toss it. My YJ had the one on the passenger side missing and the driver side had it. I removed when I took the doors off first time and lost it.

To take the door off remove top half and open the door all the way(unhook the strap). As you lift up on the door , wiggle it a bit as if you're opening and closing it. You may need to spray some grease on it, it took me 20 minutes the first time. Now they pop right off in 2 seconds.

Search YouTube and you should find videos showing how easy they come off.

Alright thanks guys! I took the bolt off the drivers door sprayed the hinges with deep creep and tried pulling them off, no luck. I didn't try it for too long though and didn't give the grease much time to set in.

I'll probably try again tomorrow, way too hot out today.

Quick question for you though, is your profile pick of Jeremy Clarkson? Cause I've been thinking that is who it is for a really long time now.

Yes, it is Clarkson driving the Ariel Atom. So sad it looks like he won't be returning to Top Gear.

Good luck getting your doors off. I didn't get mine off the first try either, I let the grease soak in overnight. The next day and a bunch of wiggling and they slide right out now.

Mine wouldn't come off at first until we started swinging them open and closed and then they just came right out. I never put them back on. Just use the soft door bottoms from Quadratec and those are very easy to take on and off.

To the OP, you could try tapping the bottom of the pins with a hammer. I would put a piece of wood between the pin and the hammer.
